“You had to get this dressed up for a dinner?” Ralph asked me with his face balled up.

He was big mad about my dress. I thought I looked good, and we were going to an upscale restaurant, so it was appropriate. He was just still tight about last night and me leaving. I told him I’d gone to Sem’s because he pissed me off. His ass couldn’t call me because he had my phone in his pocket. That was his fault. He was so mad that he said he wasn’t coming tonight, but then he thought about it and changed his mind.

“I don’t think it’s too much,” I said, looking at myself in the mirror.

I had on a hanging neckline, red, shimmery dress. The straps were spaghetti thin, and the back was non-existent, showcasing the many tattoos I now had. I had grown an obsession with them, but they were mostly where I could have them covered. My feet were sitting pretty in a pair of red stilettos, and my hair was in a high ponytail with it hanging to the side in a long braid. I was fucking cute.

Ralph was matching me in a pair of ankle length, black slacks and a red button up that he had loosely tucked with the red loafers on his feet to match. He had on a simple cross pendant and one earring, but I was perfect for his attire. I couldn’t even deny that he looked fucking fine. I wanted to get a quickie in, but something wouldn’t allow me to let him touch me, and that was all bad.

“Of course, you don’t. You ready?”

“Yes,” I said and wrapped my arm around his as we walked out the house. “You look really good tonight,” I complimented him, hoping it would loosen him up some.

It seemed to do the trick because he pecked my lips before replying, “Thank you, baby. You look sexy too.”

“Oh, now I’m sexy?”

“You’ve been that, and that’s why I don’t want you in it.”

I rolled my eyes playfully. He was coming out of his little mood as we talked on the way to the restaurant. We were all meeting at Ruth’s Chris. Ralph and I were late because I had to make sure everything about me was on point, so everyone was already there when we walked in. Legacy had his own section, and it wasn’t hard to find. I smiled brightly when I saw his mom, dad, and grandma sitting on one side of him. I tried not to frown too bad at Egypt on the other sitting next to Gin and my brother.

“Hey, y’all!” I sang as I made my way over.

“Liberty! I haven’t seen you in so long, baby,” Mama Nae gushed as she stood to hug me. “You’re beautiful. Who is this man behind you?”

“My boyfriend, Ralph. This is Legacy’s grandma, and that’s his mom and dad,” I told Ralph while pointing everyone out.

“He’s a handsome thing,” she said, and Ivy hummed her agreement making me laugh and Ralph smirk in his usual cocky manner.
